Hey guys! I’m Robin. Most of you probably know me already, as I’m sure a lot of you are here from Instagram or Facebook. Or it’s probably just my Mom or Sister trying to, ya know, “support me” or whatever.
I won’t keep you too long, but I’d like to do a quick intro. I’m a 33-year-old Wannabe Southern Belle living here in a small New York town. In all seriousness I do love the south from the glamour to the hospitality and everything in between. I always feel more like “myself” when I take a trip past the Mason-Dixon. Plus, when I’m nervous I somehow take on a southern accent. I guess we all have our own faults.
I’m a Momma-to-be. I love collecting or making one-of-a kind pieces that have a story behind them. I have my own business, Mizcrafty Designs, where I create home décor and baby items. I enjoy working with natural textiles like fabric and wood. I guess this stemmed from my love of designing spaces.
For those who might not otherwise know, I’m a self-proclaimed designer. I designed all the wooden elements currently in our home. I think I found a natural ability with wood because of its application to math through measurement with the pieces fitting together just so. I designed our bar, sliding barn doors, wainscoting and entry way bench seat.
I think I found my passion through trying to budget. We had these lofty goals for our home and the reality of bringing them to life required us doing the work. From the very first day we moved in, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. I’d love to say that all our house goals are complete, but we still have some work to do. Plus, things like paint get marked up over time and need to be refreshed or changed.
I created Accounting for Lemons based on my financial journey. Being new homeowners to hitting a recession and being back in school greatly impacted our wallets. It required us to be extremely practical. It made me think about budgeting and saving money. Plus,a phrase that my dad ingrained in me: “make your money work for you.” I’m here to share my journey through my experiences. I know there are others out there facing their own struggles just like we did. I want to share our story and our small success stories.
From food shopping, DIY projects, clothing, to design it all stems around my need to budget. These past few years we’ve had a full life with a lot of fun and laughter. Budgeting shouldn’t be saying “no” all the time. It’s more about applying priority to something over other things. No person should ever be in a situation where they are constantly living paycheck to paycheck or even worse have a deficit in their check compared to life’s expenses.
I’m here to tell you that you are capable of anything! I will prove it to you, right here, everyday on this little blog. I’m so excited to have you here and can’t wait to share more about my journey with you! While I work on the navigating aspects of this whole blog thing, be sure to follow @accounting.4.lemons on Instagram to see what I’m up to.
I’m so happy you’re here and can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!
